Minutes of the meeting of 10/25/17
Meeting Opened at: 4pm
Select Board Members Present: Steve Weisz, Chairperson, Carol Edelman and Kenneth Basler
Also in attendance: Justin Cole, Don Clawson, BJ Johnson, Mickey Jervas, Joanne Stoll-Pizzano, George Cain, Jon Sylbert
Miscellaneous Items Reviewed:
- Don Clawson came in to have the Board sign an updated LA5.
- The Board met with Baystate Municipal Accounting to discuss the following:
a. Work on the recap is done. The problems with how the recap was filled out last year have been corrected.
b. October reports should go out earlier than usual due to the way the warrant dates fall.
c. Updating the payroll codes is 80% completed. Tracking paid accruals on the checks should begin in January.
d. Over the next 60 days year end reporting will begin.
e. Justin reviewed his response to the finance committee regarding spending and reporting questions they had.
f. Justin discussed the cons to the proposal to change the Building Inspector salary and expenses from a line item to a revolving account. He does not recommend making this change as the estimated revenue we report would dramatically go down and negatively impact our tax rate.
- The Board met with our representative, Joanne Stoll from MIIA to review our current property and liability policies.
- Mickey Jervas came in to ask why the Board provided information to Locke & Lord directly rather than giving them to the Trustees as per the Memorandum of Understanding. On a separate note Mickey expressed her concern with the state that the school district has left the Monterey School building in.
- The Board met with members of the Finance Committee to review the following:
a. FY19 budget process.
b. The Board provided the comparison of the 4 major department’s budgets and surrounding towns that the Fin Comm requested.
- Warrants were signed.
- Administrative Assistant’s weekly report was reviewed.
A motion was made and unanimously approved to adjourn the meeting at: 6:30pm
